On Tuesday, 9-13-16 in a Boys Cross Country meet between Concord, Elkhart Memorial, and Plymouth at Pretty Lake Golf Course, Concord runner Luis Herrera encountered an injured runner from Elkhart Memorial (Juan Cepero) on the course with approximately 1000 meters to go.  Juan had a pulled hamstring, so Luis helped helped him all the way to the finish line.  Luis then let Juan finish ahead of him.  In the meantime, two runners from Plymouth (Justin Carpenter and Austin Richey) caught up with them, but pulled up so the two boys in front of them could cross the finish line first.

Luis also received an IHSAA Exemplary Sportsmanship Report from IHSAA Official Mike Alspaugh who was the Official Starter for the meet.

This is a true demonstration of sportsmanship from all three schools.  We are proud of all the boys for their actions and caring for each other.  Congratulations to each of them for representing their schools well and showing what high school athletics are truly about.
