Concord Girls Swimming – 2023-24 IHSAA Sectional Champions!

Congratulations to the Concord Girls Swimming Team who won the 2023-24 IHSAA Sectional Championship Meet on February 3, 2024 at Northridge High School. This is Concord’s eighth Sectional Championship overall and fourth in a row in Girls Swimming. Other Sectional Championships came in 2000, 2001, 2012, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. They hit the state cut time and are automatic state qualifiers. 200 Freestyle: Catie Brenneman – Sectional Champion (state qualifier). Gia Sponseller placed third. 200 Individual Medley: Brynlee Yoder placed second and hit the state cut time, which automatically qualifies her for State Finals! Mady Oiler was fourth and Avery McDowell was sixth. 50 Freestyle: Megan Posthauer placed fourth. One Meter Diving: Kalia Starzyk was Sectional Champion and Maggie Weldy placed second! Both advanced to the Diving Regional on February 6 at Valparaiso High School! 100 Butterfly: Mya Ernsberger – Sectional Champion (state qualifier). Megan Posthauer was sixth and Whitney Sotebeer was seventh. 100 Freestyle: Catie Brenneman – Sectional Champion (state qualifier). Bella Biggers placed second. 500 Freestyle: Brynlee Yoder – Sectional Champion (state qualifier). Whitney Sotebeer was seventh and Mya Pressler was eighth. The 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Mady Oiler, Megan Posthauer, Gia Sponseller, and Catie Brenneman were Sectional Champions (state qualifiers). 100 Backstroke: Bella Biggers was third, Mya Ernsberger was fifth and Mady Oiler was sixth. 100 Breaststroke: Gia Sponseller was third, Avery McDowell was fourth, and Mya Pressler was eighth. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Brynlee Yoder, Bella Biggers, Mya Ernsberger, and Catie Brenneman placed second. They hit the state cut time and are automatic state qualifiers. Additionally, Concord Coach Tom Johnson was named Sectional Co-Coach of the Year!
