Congratulations to Concord Athletic Director, Dave Preheim, who was one of eleven individuals selected by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) to receive the Bruce D. Whitehead Distinguished Service Award at the 54th Annual National Athletic Directors Conference in Orlando, Florida on December 19, 2023. The Bruce D. Whitehead Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to individuals from within the NIAAA membership in recognition of their length of service, special accomplishments, and contributions to interscholastic athletics at the local, state, and national levels. Nominations are submitted by state athletic directors’ associations, screened by the NIAAA Awards Committee, and selected by the NIAAA Board of Directors. Preheim was selected as the NIAAA section 4 recipient, representing individuals from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Preheim has been an active member of both the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (IIAAA) and the NIAAA since he started his career in Athletic Administration in 1997. He has served the IIAAA in a variety of ways over the last 24 years. Notable positions include serving as President in 2015, District 2 Director, Membership Chair, Personnel Director, Second Strategic Plan General Chairperson, and a Leadership Training Institute Faculty Instructor. During his tenure at Concord High School, Preheim took the lead in creating the athletic department website which offers community members a centralized place to find pertinent information and highlights success of student athletes. He has overseen construction of a new baseball facility, weight room addition, tennis court renovations, and football entrance plaza. Additionally, Preheim was instrumental in revitalizing the Concord Athletic Hall of Fame, acknowledging and preserving the rich history of athletic accomplishments at the school. He currently serves as the co-secretary-treasurer of the Northern Lakes Conference. Concord is very fortunate to have such a dedicated individual in the Athletic Department.
