Cate Tompkins has been named to the position of Head Girls Golf Coach at Concord High School, pending school board approval on June 5. She takes over for Ashley Hutchinson who resigned after one season. Tompkins graduated from Northridge High school in 2018. She played golf all four years and served as captain for two. During her high school career, she advanced to regionals three consecutive years. Cate continued her golf career at Olivet Nazarene University where she played all four years and the team competed at the NAIA National Championships three of the four years. Cate currently resides in Elkhart and is employed at HH Prowash. Additionally, Tara Boessler and Jeff Petty will be returning to the program as volunteer assistant coaches. Boessler served as Head Coach for seven seasons before resigning because of family commitments following the 2021 season. Petty previously served as Boys Head Coach in Spring 2021 and Girls Assistant Coach before becoming Assistant Principal at CHS in Fall 2021. “We are excited to have Cate join our staff,” said Dave Preheim, Concord High School Athletic Director. “She played at a high level both in high school and collegiately so we are pleased to have someone with her skills lead our program. Additionally, we are thrilled to have Tara and Jeff return as an assistant coaches. Neither Tara nor Jeff have the ability to commit to a full-time situation, but they have both agreed to serve as mentors and assist the team as frequently as possible. We believe pairing Cate’s enthusiasm and expertise with Tara’s and Jeff’s experience and guidance will make for a great combination!” The remainder of Tompkins’ staff is still being finalized.
