Concord Girls Swimming – 2022-23 IHSAA Sectional Champions!

Congratulations to the Concord Girls Swimming Team who won the 2022-23 IHSAA Sectional Championship Meet on February 4, 2023 at Elkhart Aquatic Center. This is Concord’s seventh Sectional Championship overall and third in a row in Girls Swimming. Other Sectional Championships came in 2000, 2001, 2012, 2017, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Concord placers in the top eight in each event were: 200 Medley Relay Team of Ella Lantz, Mya Ernsberger, Bella Sponseller and Sophia Stutsman (not pictured while getting ready for another event) finished third. They hit the state cut time and are automatic state qualifiers. 200 Freestyle – Freshmen Catie Brenneman is the Sectional Champion in the 200 Freestyle! Sophia Stutsman was third and Madyson Oiler was sixth. Brenneman broke the meet record held by Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsay Benko & her sister ‘s (Grace Brenneman) school record of 1:51.21! 200 Individual Medley – Bella Sponseller (fourth) and Madison Weaver (seventh) and Gia Sponseller (ninth – not pictured). 50 Freestyle – Audrey Lantz placed 3rd. Her time of 23.66 beat the state cut and makes her an automatic state qualifier! Mya Ernsberger was sixth and Sydney Keith (not pictured) placed 12th. Diving – It was a clean sweep in diving! Congrats Ryleigh Robinson – Sectional Champion! Delaney Trigg was second and Kalia Starzyk third. All three will advance to the Mishawaka diving regional on February 7th. 100 Butterfly – Audrey Lantz – Sectional Champion in the 100 Butterfly! Sophia Stutsman was second! Sophia beat the state cut time and advances to state as well! 100 Freestyle – Ella Lantz placed third. Her time of 52.13 beat the state cut time and qualifies her for state! Avery McDowell was seventh and Christine Angel eighth! 500 Freestyle – Catie Brenneman placed second in the 500 Freestyle in a state cut time of 5:01.20. Madison Weaver was fourth and Madyson Oiler was 6th. (Catie was getting ready for another event so not in the picture). The 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Audrey Lantz, Mya Ernsberger (getting ready for another event) Bella Sponseller, and Catie Brenneman placed second. Their time of 1:35.31 beat the state cut time and qualifies them for state! 100 Backstroke – Ella Lantz – Sectional Champion! Mya Ernsberger was second and Megan Posthauer fifth.100 Breaststroke – Bella Sponseller fourth place, Avery McDowell was sixth, and Gia Sponseller was seventh. 400 Freestyle Relay team of Catie Brenneman, Sophia Stutsman, Ella Lantz, Audrey Lantz – Sectional Champions in a time of 3:29.26. Concord Girls Swimming and Diving – 2023 Sectional Champions! State Finals Information – February 10 and 11 Friday, February 10 – 6:00pm | Swimming Preliminaries Heat Sheets & Psych Sheets Saturday, February 11 – 9:00am | Diving preliminaries, semifinals Saturday, February 11 – 1:00pm | Swimming and Diving Championship/Consolation Finals Site: Indiana University Natatorium, IUPUI Admission: $10 per session or $19 both days general admission. All tickets are digital only and may be purchased through GoFan beginning Monday February 6. Advancement: The top 16 in each swimming event during Friday’s prelims will return for competition on Saturday.
