Boys Swimming Competes in Nine Events at 2022 State Finals; Cole Stevenson Places Sixth in Breaststroke

The Concord Boys Swimming Team competed the IHSAA State Finals on Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26, 2022, placing 22nd as a team with 29 points. Concord had participants in nine of the twelve events, finalists in five events, and set one school record. Here is a summary of our placings: Event 1 – 200 Medley Relay: The team of Derek Angel, Brayden Sollars, Cole Stevenson, and Ethan Davies advanced to the consolation finals and placed 13th in a time of 1:37.10. Event 2 – 200 Freestyle: Tommy Brunner placed 21st in the prelims in a time of 1:43.61. Event 3 – 200 Individual Medley: Cole Stevenson placed 14th in the consolation finals in a time of 1:55.61. Event 5- One Meter Diving: Ethan Smith placed 16th in the championship finals with a score of 362.70. Event 7 – 100 Freestyle: Ethan Davies placed 22nd in the preliminaries in a time of 47.48. Event 8 – 500 Freestyle: Tommy Brunner placed 13th in the consolation finals in a time of 4:39.85. Tommy set a school record of 4:36.06 in the prelims on Friday night. Event 9 – 200 Freestyle Relay: The team of Brayden Sollars, Austin Zimmerman, Will Delio, and Tommy Brunner placed 29th in the preliminaries in a time of 1:29.81. Event 11 – 100 Breastroke: Cole Stevenson placed sixth in the championship finals in a time of 56.76. Brayden Sollars placed 19th in the preliminaries with a time of 58.42. Event 12 – 400 Freestyle Relay: The team of Tommy Brunner, Ethan Davies, Derek Angel, and Cole Stevenson placed 17th in a time of 3:14.98.
