Grace Brenneman Receives 2022 IHSAA Girls Swimming Mental Attitude Award

Congratulations to Grace Brenneman who received the prestigious IHSAA Mental Attitude Award in Girls Swimming at the State Finals Meet on February 12, 2022. The award is presented to annually to one senior in each IHSAA Sport. Criteria for the award are as follows: A nominee must: 1. Be a student in grade 12. 2. Be nominated by the principal and coach. 3. Excel in mental attitude, athletic ability, scholarship and leadership during the four years in high school. 4. Be a state finalist participant in the sport nominated. 5. Be selected by members of the IHSAA Executive Committee. 6. Meet minimum academic requirements of one of the following: a. S.A.T. of 1000 (Verbal & Math scores only) or; b. A.C.T. of 21 or; c. Class rank in top 25% Grace becomes the fourth Concord High School student to receive an IHSAA Mental Attitude Award, joining Russ Mann (1998 Football), Paula Skeels (1985 Softball), and Steve Gordon (1984 Football). She is the daughter of Dan and Angie Brenneman. Grace graduates as only the second Concord High School student (any gender, any sport) to earn medals in all four years of high school, joining Greg Beer (1991-1994). She also set a new record for most IHSAA medals by a Concord High School student (any gender, any sport) with ten total medals during her high school career. At the completion of her high school career, Grace holds school records in five of the eleven swimming events.
