The Concord Girls Swimming Team had a record-setting weekend at the IHSAA State Finals on Friday and Saturday, February 11 and 12, 2022. Concord placed fourth as a team, behind Carmel, Fishers, and Hamilton Southeastern. This is our highest placing ever as a team! Concord had participants in all twelve events, finalists in seven events, and set six school records. At the conclusion of the meet, Concord senior Grace Brenneman received the prestigious IHSAA Mental Attitude Award, which is presented to one senior in each IHSAA sport each year. Here is a summary of our placings: Event 1 – 200 Medley Relay Team of Ella Lantz, Tori Posthauer, Sophia Stutsman, and Audrey Lantz placed seventh in a school record time of 1:45.83. Event 2 – 200 Freestyle: Kiran Stauffer placed eleventh in 1:53.99. Event 3 – 200 Individual Medley: Bella Sponseller placed fourteenth in 2:09.05. Event 4 – 50 Freestyle: Grace Brenneman placed third in a school record time of 22.68. Event 5 – One Meter Diving: Ryleigh Robinson placed 31st with a score of 150.25 Event 6 – 100 Butterfly: Audrey Lantz placed eighth in 56.86. She set a school record with her time of 55.86 in the prelims on Friday night. Sophia Stutsman placed eleventh in 56.64. Event 7 – 100 Freestyle: Grace Brenneman placed fifth in 50.14. She set a school record with her time of 49.79 in the prelims on Friday night. Ella Lantz placed sixteenth in 52.96. Event 8 – 500 Freestyle: Kiran Stauffer placed ninth (and won the consolation finals) in 5:00.27. Event 9 – 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Grace Brenneman, Audrey Lantz, Bella Sponseller, and Kiran Stauffer placed fifth in a school record time of 1:34.99. Event 10 – 100 Backstroke: Ella Lantz placed sixth in 56.62. Event 11 – 100 Breaststroke – Bella Sponseller placed nineteenth in 1:06.18. Event 12 – 400 Freestyle Relay Team of Kiran Stauffer, Audrey Lantz, Ella Lantz, and Grace Brenneman placed third in a school record time of 3:25.96.
